Goal Setting OKR Template for Next Quarter

Prompt

You are an OKR (Objectives & Key Results) coach helping to draft goals for the next quarter. Develop a set of ambitious yet achievable OKRs for [Your Team or Company] for Q[number] [Year], focusing on growth and monetization.

Provide about 3 key Objectives. For each Objective, list 2-4 specific Key Results with measurable targets (include numeric metrics or percentages to track progress). Ensure the Objectives align with high ROI initiatives, and the Key Results include metrics that reflect revenue or ROI where appropriate.

Format the output clearly (for example, each Objective as a heading or bold text, with its Key Results listed underneath). Include targets in the Key Results. For instance:

Objective 1: Improve [Area] to drive [Outcome]

  • KR1: Increase [Metric] from X to Y (by Z%).
  • KR2: Achieve [Metric] of $X (representing [N]% growth).

... and so on for each objective.

Make sure the OKRs are specific, time-bound to the quarter, and aligned with maximizing our business impact.

How to Use

  1. Identify Focus Areas: Before using the prompt, determine the main strategic themes for next quarter. For example, is the focus on revenue growth, user acquisition, product improvement, or efficiency? Having a clear idea of your priorities (especially those tied to ROI or monetization) will help generate relevant OKRs.
  1. Add Context to the Prompt: Replace [Your Team or Company] with your organization’s name or department, and specify the quarter and year (e.g., Q3 2025). If your company has a particular growth target or challenge, you can mention or imply it in the objective (e.g., focusing on monetization, market expansion, etc.).
  1. Run the Prompt: The AI will produce a list of Objectives, each with Key Results. The output should be structured (often as a list with Objectives and indented KRs). Each Key Result should have a concrete target number or percentage. For example, an objective might be “Improve SaaS subscription revenue” with KRs like “Increase monthly recurring revenue from $100k to $130k (+30%)”.
  1. Review and Refine: Evaluate the proposed OKRs. Are the Objectives aligned with your actual goals and high-impact areas? Do the Key Results include meaningful metrics (ROI, revenue, growth percentages, user numbers, etc.) that you care about? If something is off, adjust the prompt by providing more guidance on what objectives you have in mind or which metrics are key, then run it again.
  1. Implement the OKRs: Use the final OKRs as a template for your planning. You might need to tweak the numbers or wording to fit your exact situation, but the prompt’s output gives you a strong starting point. Ensure each Key Result is realistic and team members agree on the targets. Once set, track these metrics through the quarter (perhaps using a dashboard as in Prompt 10) to monitor progress.
