Influencer Outreach DM/Email Template

Prompt

Draft a personalized outreach message to an influencer for a collaboration with [your brand]. Provide two versions:

1) a short, friendly Instagram DM, and

2) a more detailed email.

The messages should mention what you like about the influencer’s content, clearly propose the collaboration idea involving [product/offer], and explain the benefit to them. Maintain a polite and enthusiastic tone in both.

How to Use

  1. Define Your Inputs: Gather the key details for the outreach. This includes the influencer’s name (or handle), the platform they’re on, what they specialize in, your brand name and product you want to promote, and what kind of collaboration you’re proposing (e.g. sending a free product for review, a paid partnership, an event invite, etc.). Also note something genuine you appreciate about their content to mention (e.g. “I love your honest skincare reviews” or “your travel vlogs have amazing storytelling”).
  1. Customize the Prompt: Insert those details into the prompt. For example: “Draft a personalized outreach message to an influencer for a collaboration with AcmeFitness. Provide two versions: 1) a short, friendly Instagram DM, and 2) a more detailed email. The messages should mention what I like about @FitAlex’s fitness content, propose sending them our new workout gear to try, and explain how this collaboration benefits them. Tone should be polite and enthusiastic.” This ensures the AI knows to produce two formats and includes specific personal touches and collaboration info.
  1. Optional Add-ons: If you only need one format (just a DM or just an email), you can simplify the prompt to that. For instance, “Draft a short Instagram DM…” or “Draft a professional outreach email…”. You can also specify tone differences (“DM should use first names and emojis, email should be more formal with proper greetings”). If you plan to offer something specific (discount code for their followers, commission, etc.), mention that so the AI will include it. Additionally, you might add a request to keep the DM very brief (since brevity is key in DMs) and the email under a certain length or with a clear subject line suggestion.
  1. Run the Prompt: Execute the prompt. The AI will generate two versions of the message. The DM version is expected to be concise and friendly – perhaps 2-3 short sentences, since Instagram DMs should get to the point quickly. The email version will likely be longer, with a greeting, a short intro about your brand, the collaboration idea, and a polite closing. For example, the DM might start with “Hi [Name]! Loved your recent post on [relevant topic]…” whereas the email will have a subject line and a more formal salutation like “Dear [Name],”.
  1. Review & Select: Read both drafts carefully. Ensure the tone matches what you want – the DM can be casual but still respectful (no overly formal language needed on IG DMs), and the email should be professional but not overly stiff (you want your enthusiasm to show). Check that your key points are included: a genuine compliment, the ask (what you want them to do), and what’s in it for them. Often, personalization is what makes an influencer reply, so verify the AI used the specific details you provided (if it left them out, you might re-run or edit the prompt to emphasize those). Also confirm there are no placeholders left like “[product]” or “[Name]” – those should have been filled in. Minor editing is normal: you may tweak the wording to sound more like you, or adjust the length. For the email, you might want to add a subject line if the AI didn’t provide one (e.g., “Collaboration Opportunity with [Your Brand]”).
  1. Expected Outcome: You’ll have two well-structured outreach templates: one tailored for a quick direct message and one for a formal email. Both will be personalized and professional. The DM version is handy for Instagram or Twitter DMs — it will be short, friendly, and clear about the collaboration (so it doesn’t get ignored). The email version will contain more detail, useful for when an influencer prefers email contact or you need a more official approach. By using these templates, you increase your chances of getting a positive response, since you’re following best practices: brevity and clarity in DMs, and a detailed, respectful pitch in emails. Remember to follow up politely if you don’t hear back, as outreach often requires a gentle reminder.
